Back into October 2011, I flew to Scotland to shoot a series of fashion stories for Spectrum. As a stylist, I like to be prepared, with plenty of options covering all eventualities. More is more and the day I work on a shoot unprepared, is the day that nothing fits the model, clothes get dropped in the mud, shoes are lost and chaos ensues. So the concept of packing every single item I needed for four shoots was incomprehensible, but I somehow managed to pull it off!
This is my Heritage shoot, inspired by cold, blustery winters in the Scottish countryside, I wanted to create a feast of textures by layering tweed, fur and knitwear, all topped off with some fabulous coats. I mixed dogtooth check, plaid, fairIsle and tartan, with killer accessories, like Miu Miu’s iconic booties and Burberry Prorsum’s chunky platforms. The jewel colours, rich browns and burgundy hues make you want to wrap up warm and brave the cold for a crisp autumn stroll.
